As the history goes, at one time, the Pit Bull was a trustworthy companion. People who were involved with dog fighting developed such traits as aggressiveness towards other dogs in this breed. Pit Bulls tend to have a dubious reputation. Mass media reports some of them attack people. More often than not, they are speaking about a mix or a dog bred by irresponsible people.

Well-bred Pit Bulls are not dangerous at all. They can be trusted with children. Teddy Roosevelt, Jack Dempsy, and Jack Johnson are a few famous people who have owned Pit Bulls. Throughout the breed's history, these dogs have excelled in herding, guarding, hunting, policing, cart pulling and ratting. It is important to understand the breed's requirements in order to meet them and be a responsible dog owner.

The pedigrees of working bulldogs have been cherished for centuries. The Pit bull has one of the most significant claims to purity of line of any breed. The Pit Bull is thoroughly English and Irish in its origin. However, the breed was officially registered in America. These registries exist to this day, and, for the most part, continue to register pure Pit Bulls.
